I want a job.

Let's do this.

I need a reset.

If you’re reading my blog you probably know that I lost my home of thirteen years in a fire in June. I’ve done amazingly settling into my new apartment. I’m safe! That’s a massive victory.

But that home also contained my recording studio, and my woodshop, and so many systems that helped with ADHD and mobility limitations. What’s more, my car just died, my physical health needs some attention, and my life would be greatly enhanced by gender affirming care.

Consequently, I have decided to pursue a 9-5.

My intention is to get into software development ASAP. I’ve been passionate about computers since I rebuilt my family’s Apple IIGS at the age of seven. I fear, though, that I’m not quite as proficient in software development as most employers would prefer. Having said that, I’m a fierce and fast learner, and would love any opportunity to grow in a professional setting.

I want to reassure everybody that my time making music is far from over. But my main goal in publishing this entry is to let you (my beloved community) know that I’m in need of a job. Barring a sudden acceptance into the tech world, I am open to any job which is compatible with my situation and skills, so that I may focus more time studying software development. Here’s my LinkedIn . Please let me know if you hear of anything.

Nuance

While I don’t feel that nuance is a luxury I can presently afford, that doesn’t mean that I’m not fantasizing about it. My expectation is that I will be pouring my entirety into this career shift for the next few years. But I will also continue to grow my music teachers’ cooperative during that time, armed with an increasing adeptness with our digital infrastructure.

My deep hope is that I will eventually have more structured time (and resources) to focus on my health, my friendships, my music, and making the world a better place. Bearing that in mind, this is a moment worth celebrating.

Please let me know if you hear of anything you believe I would be well-suited for.

Other news

I’m putting the finishing touches on some music I was commissioned to compose for an amazing piece of original theater. I’m also rounding the final bend on a record I’ve been producing for the past few months. Can’t wait for you all to hear them.
